How many types of amino acids are there?

The human body's proteins are made up of 20 amino acids. Nine of the twenty

amino acids are considered essential, while the remaining nine are

considered non-essential. The amino acids known as essentials are

those that the body is unable to manufacture on its own and must

be obtained from food. Since the body is capable of producing them,

nonessential amino acids do not need to be consumed through diet.
